There are many types that you may need reassurance about before you consider Laser Eye Surgery. Here are just a few that we have been asked about in recent months.
Am I suitable for eye surgery?
The only way to be sure is make an appointment with one of our consultants. If you have your prescription then that’s a good starting point.
What’s the next step?
Quite simply book a private consultation at a time that suits you.
Can I talk to someone about my treatment?
Most definitely all of our clinical staff can help and advise you, or better still they can put you in touch with somebody who has had similar treatment.
Will I need to take time off work?
Usually most people return to work the following day. Your treatment takes no more than two hours, but we strongly recommend that you don’t drive.
I have a very strong prescription
Without seeing you, we cannot recommend the best type of treatment, however in most cases we can help.
Which surgery is best?
Everyone’s eyes are different, that’s why we recommend that you make an appointment with one of our consultants.
Is there a waiting list?
Most times there is not, but we can facilitate usually a consultation in less than five working days.
Should I inform my doctor?
Most patients ask their doctor about treatments and if you proceed with treatment, we will ask you if we can approach your GP.
Will I need to stay overnight?
No. You can go home after treatment, however if for whatever reasons this is not possible which is very rare, you will be looked after in the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
What are the costs?

Will I get perfect eyes?
With over 98% of patients, they can look forward to driving better and seeing more clearly.
Can I do physical activities?
We recommend that you don’t exercise for at least two weeks, however all sports and exercises differ so you should ask one of our consultants.
Can I wear makeup?
Yes. But to avoid infection do not use tinted eyelashes for at least two weeks. All other make-ups are fine.
Should I bring someone with me?
Yes this is strongly recommended as we may have to dilate your pupil. This may cause your vision to become blurred and therefore you may need someone to accompany you home.
Who will perform my treatment?
The consultant you first see will perform whatever treatment is advised. Your treatment will be carried out at the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and is supported by a highly qualified clinical personnel.
